5 No-Cook Summer Drinks to Beat the Texas Heat

Refreshing summer drinks with ice

When it's 100°F outside, the last thing you want to do is turn on the stove. These five refreshing drinks take under 15 minutes each and need absolutely zero cooking.

1. Watermelon-Mint Agua Fresca

Blend fresh watermelon, add mint, lime juice, and a little honey. Strain and serve over ice. This is peak Texas summer in a glass. Full recipe here.

2. Cucumber-Basil Lemonade

Blend half a cucumber until smooth, strain, and stir into fresh lemonade with a handful of torn basil. Let it sit for 10 minutes before serving to let the basil infuse.

3. Hibiscus Iced Tea

Steep dried hibiscus flowers in room temperature water for 2 hours (cold brew style) — no boiling required. Sweeten with honey and serve over ice with lime slices. A beautiful deep red colour and naturally tart flavour.

4. Peach Ginger Lemonade

Blend ripe peaches to a smooth purée, mix with fresh lemon juice, grated ginger, and sparkling water. The ginger gives a subtle warmth that balances the sweetness of the peach perfectly.

5. Sparkling Citrus Mint Water

The simplest one: fill a pitcher with sparkling water, slices of lemon, orange, and lime, and a handful of fresh mint leaves. Refrigerate for 30 minutes. Refreshing, hydrating, and endlessly refillable.

Make a large batch of any of these and store in the fridge for up to 2 days. Most improve in flavour after a few hours as the ingredients meld together.
